Conservation Education (ConEd)

Conservation Education Program Education is a vital tool for conservation. RCF has an innovative conservation education program which works in collaboration with partners like the National Department of Education through the Provincial Divisions in Eastern Highlands, Morobe, Simbu, Jiwaka and Madang Provinces. The aim of the program is to promote biodiversity conservation through education in elementary, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the country. The target audience is students who are the future custodians of PNG’s rich and unique environment. In working with teachers RCF believes it can increase environmental literacy in PNG. The program implements a variety of activities; 

 Tertiary training in Balob Teachers College and The University of Goroka. 

 In-service Teacher Training for Elementary and Primary School teachers.  Provincial Resource Centers in Morobe, Eastern Highlands, Simbu and Jiwaka Provinces. 

 Community capacity building on climate change adaptation

  Documentation of traditional knowledge

  Bio-culture class  or Lainim Tumbuna save skul.

 Material production - such as teacher resource books, posters, documentaries and newsletters
